Privacy Policy
At Rut, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our macOS application, shared-project features, and related services.
Information We Collect
Rut is designed with privacy in mind. We collect the minimum information necessary to provide local execution, optional shared projects, and automation services:
- Local Application Data: Local credentials, device preferences, and machine-specific runtime state remain on your machine.
- Shared Project Data: If you enable shared projects or cloud sync, project metadata, specs, tickets, collaboration state, and automation configuration may be stored in Rut services so collaborators, receipts, and webhook deliveries can function.
- Usage Analytics: We may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the application, such as feature usage patterns and error reports. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify individual users.
- Contact Information: If you reach out to us via email for support, we will collect and store your email address and any information you provide.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our services
- Respond to your support requests and inquiries
- Send important updates about the application (with your consent)
- Detect and prevent technical issues
Third-Party Services
Rut integrates with third-party AI services. When you use these integrations:
- Your provider credentials are stored locally on your machine rather than being uploaded to Rut servers for local execution.
- Relevant prompts, code, or project context may be sent to the provider you selected in order to fulfill the request.
- Please review the privacy policies of these services for information about how they handle your data.
Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:
- Local sensitive data is stored on your machine using secure storage mechanisms where available.
- Shared-project and automation records use authenticated service-side access controls when cloud features are enabled.
- The application is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple.
- Rut does not require you to upload local provider API keys to Rut servers in order to use local execution features.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request deletion of your data from our systems
- Opt-out of any marketing communications
- Request that we correct any inaccurate information
Children's Privacy
Rut is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
